Evan L. Thompson, from the University of South Carolina, was elected the 46th National President of Kappa Kappa Psi at the 49th Biennial Convention in Orlando, Florida. Evan previously served the Fraternity as National Vice President for Colonization & Membership (2015-2017), Southeast District Governor (2012-2015), and National Chapter Field Representative (2010-2012).

​

As National Vice President for Colonization and Membership, Evan was responsible for advancing the purposes of the fraternity through administering the colonization and membership development initiatives. Evan led a complete overhaul of the colonization process creating a more efficient and meaningful process focused on member development, chapter operations, and officer training. He also led efforts to document the fraternity’s discipline procedures which resulted in an Investigation Protocol now available for all members. Evan served as a member of the Curriculum Development Committee which engaged in developing The National Membership Education Program: The Road to Wisdom. Eight new chapters were installed during the biennium and member numbers reached 6,500 active members.

​

Evan graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s of Music Degree cum laude with emphasis in Instrumental Music Education in 2009. He graduated from Western Governors University with a Master’s of Science Degree in Educational Leadership in 2016. Professionally, Evan is the Music Teacher at Shaw Heights Elementary School in Sumter, South Carolina and an Instructor in the Department of Dance, Music & Theatre at Coker College in Hartsville, SC. His experience also includes five years of successful teaching as Band & Orchestra Director at Chestnut Oaks Middle School in Sumter, South Carolina.

​

Evan is a member of the Sumter Community Concert Band and the Palmetto Concert Band. Professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, South Carolina Band Directors Association, and South Carolina Music Educators Association. He is a Life Member of Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, and the University of South Carolina Alumni Association.

Marco Krcatovich, National Vice President for Colonization & Membership

Brother Krcatovich was initiated into the Nu Chapter of KKΨ in 2001 at the University of Michigan.  He was a member of the Michigan Marching Band, served his chapter as Corresponding Secretary, and the North Central District as VPCM and two years as District President.  At the end of his second term as District President, Marco was honored with the J. Lee Burke Student Achievement Award, in part for his work in changing the culture of district conventions and events by focusing on promoting education and leadership among all brothers, and the introduction of workshops as the central feature of district convention, while making district business more efficient.

Since his graduation from the University of Michigan, Brother Krcatovich has served as Colony Advisor for both Mu Epsilon and Nu Theta, installed the Nu Eta chapter at Saint Augustine’s University, served on the advisory board for the Theta Beta and Eta Gamma (TBΣ) chapters at Boston University during a difficult time for Theta Beta, and became an honorary member of both chapters and of the Northeast District.  Since 2011, Marco served as National Vice Chair and Chair for the KKΨ Alumni Association’s Board of Directors.  Marco was the first brother to give the gift of Life Membership through the Alumni Giving Program (AGP), and has since gifted a second Life Membership.

Marco graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Space Science with a concentration in Meteorology from the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering in 2005.  He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, where he earned a Master’s of Science in Education degree in Higher Education Management in 2007. 

​

Marco currently serves as the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois, where he resides as well. This senior administration position includes supervising a dedicated research staff and student research assistants, producing federal and state reports which help ensure continued access to federal student aid dollars, and serving and chairing numerous university committees on strategic enrollment planning, student evaluation, effectiveness in university operations, and data warehousing management system development and improvement.

Dr. Nicholas Bratcher, National Vice President for Programs

Dr. Nicholas Bratcher was initiated into the Zeta Eta chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi at South Carolina State University on March 5, 2006. Since then, Nicholas has served the fraternity from a variety of perspectives including chapter delegate, Life Member, Chapter sponsor, and college band director. Before being elected as National Vice President for Programs in 2017, Nicholas served as Musicianship Director on the National Alumni Association Board of Directors during the 2015-2017 biennium. In this capacity, Nicholas worked to implement workshops for continuing musicianship and advocacy for alumni, as well as coordinated the Kappa Kappa Psi Solo Competition.

​

Professionally, Nicholas serves as Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). There he conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds, and teaches courses in conducting and music education. Prior to his appointment at CSUSB, Bratcher held positions as Director of Bands at the University of Dubuque (Dubuque, IA) and Assistant Director of Bands at Savannah State University (Savannah, GA). In both roles, Bratcher helped grow and develop comprehensive band programs with educational outreach initiatives for public school students and directors; as well as several wind and jazz ensemble performance tours throughout the southeastern United States.

​

Bratcher consistently works with composers, arrangers, and performing artists throughout the country. Projects with new compositions and wind literature are integral to his creative work. Bratcher is published in the GIA Teaching Music through Performance in Band book series. He is an active guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator, and performer. Bratcher has presented clinics in Iowa, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Washington, Minnesota, and Alabama. Recent professional engagements off campus include serving as the artistic director and founding conductor of the Julien Winds, a professional wind ensemble serving the tri-state area (Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin).

​

Bratcher holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and a Master of Arts in Music Education from Coastal Carolina University. He later earned the Doctorate in Music Education with a minor in Conducting from the University of Georgia. Bratcher is also an honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma and a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Jessica Lee, National Vice President for Student Affairs

Jessica McAlarney Lee was initiated into the Eta Alpha Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania on November 22, 2003. As an active Brother from 2004 – 2008, she served her chapter as Social Director, Vice President of Service, Central Precinct Chair, and Chapter President. She also served the Northeast District as District President from 2007-2008. While at Lock Haven, Jessica performed as a percussionist with the LHU Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Percussion Ensemble. In May of 2008, Jessica graduated cum laude with Bachelor of Science degrees in Special and Elementary Education.

​

Following graduation in 2008, Jessica has continued to work with Kappa Kappa Psi on the district and national levels. Jessica served as the Colony advisor to the Nu Delta chapter at McMurry University. She has also presented workshops over leadership, fraternal values, and membership education at district and national conventions. Most recently, Jessica has facilitated sessions at the National Leadership Conference (2014-present) for National Leadership and District Presidents. She has also worked the last two years as a member of the National Curriculum Development Committee (2015 – present) to create the Kappa Kappa Psi National Membership Education Curriculum: The Road to Wisdom and develop training for Brothers and national leadership for this program. A life member of the Eta Alpha chapter, Jessica is also an honorary member of the Gamma Nu chapter of Tau Beta Sigma at The University of Texas at Arlington, as well as an honorary member of the Southwest District and the National Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi.

Jessica graduated in August of 2013 with a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. Since then, she has consistently held leadership positions in her professional life. Currently, Jessica is a Middle School Principal in Maypearl Independent School District in Maypearl, Texas. In this role, she oversees curriculum and instruction, Texas state assessment and accountability, teacher professional development and evaluation, Gifted & Talented, English as a Second Language, Special Education, Section 504, and Response to Intervention for students in grades 5-8. Previous to this position, Jessica has been a curriculum director, assistant principal, and a special education teacher.

​

Jessica currently resides in Hillsboro, TX with her husband, Jack (Past National President of Kappa Kappa Psi), seven year old son, Jackson, three year old daughter, Emmy, and their Boston Terrier, Maggie.

Dr. Douglas Stotter, National Vice President for Professional Relations

Dr. Douglas Stotter is Director of Bands, Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of the Wind and Percussion Division in the UTA Music Department. He conducts the Wind Symphony and teaches undergraduate and graduate conducting and wind literature courses while overseeing all aspects of the band program. He is active as conductor, clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States and most recently in China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.Prior to his appointment at UTA, Dr. Stotter served for seven years as Assistant Director of Bands at Indiana University, where he conducted the Concert and Symphonic Bands and taught advanced undergraduate and graduate instrumental conducting courses in the IU School of Music.

​

Previously, Dr. Stotter was Director of Bands and head of instrumental music education at Valdosta State University, where he conducted the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Marching Band and taught courses in conducting, marching band techniques and secondary instrumental methods. Dr. Stotter has also served as Director of Bands at the University of Missouri-Rolla, Doane College in Nebraska and at Galesburg (Illinois) High School.Dr. Stotter’s textbook, Methods and Materials for Conducting, was published in 2006 by GIA Publications and is now in use at numerous universities across the country. His other publications include contributions to the text Teaching Music Through Performance in Band(Volumes 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9), as well as research into the history of Edwin Franko Goldman and the Goldman Band published in the Journal of Band Research. His arrangement for concert band of songs by Ralph Vaughn Williams, Three Dorset Songs, was published in 2003 by Daehn Music and performed in 2004 at the Midwest Clinic. His latest arrangement, a setting of Percy Grainger’s Sussex Mummer’s Christmas Carol, was published in 2006 by Daehn Music. Dr. Stotter also served for 9 years as Editor of the College Band Directors National Association Report.

Dr. Stotter received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music education from The University of Michigan and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conducting from The University of Iowa. He is a member of the Conductors Guild, the Music Educators National Conference, the National Band Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, the Texas Music Educators Association and is an active member of the College Band Directors National Association, serving on the National Executive Board as treasurer. He is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma chapters at Indiana University, the University of Missouri-Rolla, Valdosta State University and the University of Michigan.

Jack Lee, Immediate Past National President

Jack Lee was initiated into the Delta Sigma chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi on March 13, 2005 at the University of Texas at Arlington. While there, he was a member of the marching band, wind ensemble, concert band, university band, and MavBrass athletic band. Jack graduated with his Bachelor of Music degree in December 2005 and began graduate work the following semester. While a graduate student, Jack served as a Teaching Associate and Instructor at the University of Texas at Arlington. There, he conducted the University Band, the MavBrass athletic band, and was an assistant with the marching band. During his time as an active member of Delta Sigma, Jack served as the chapter president and Southwest District president.

​

After completing his Master of Music in Music Education degree in May 2008, Jack continued to serve Kappa Kappa Psi as a sponsor for the Delta Sigma chapter. Jack is a recipient of the J. Lee Burke Student Achievement Award and Tau Beta Sigma Southwest District’s Daniel A. George Award for Fostering Joint Relations.  Jack has served as Kappa Kappa Psi National Vice President for Student Affairs (2009-2011), National Vice President for Programs (2011-2013), and National Vice President for Colonization and Membership (2013-2015).  Jack is an honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma National chapter, the Southwest District, and the Gamma Nu chapter at The University of Texas at Arlington.  He also holds Kappa Kappa Psi honorary membership with the Southwest District, Midwest District, and the Northeast District.

​

Professionally, Jack is currently serving as the Interim Superintendent in Blooming Grove Independent School District in Blooming Grove, TX.  Additionally, he is a professor of music at Hill College where he teaches the woodwind studio.  Currently, Jack is completing his dissertation for his Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

​

Jack is a Life Member of Kappa Kappa Psi, and holds memberships in the Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Association, the Southwest District Alumni Association, the Eta Alpha Alumni Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.  His other interests include cooking, fishing, and spending time with his wife, Jessica, and their two children, Jackson and Emmy.
